Retreat in Liverpool

Really cool spot, it's a massive place so I wouldn't necessarily let the parking lot fullness scare you away. You can clearly see the outside so you'll know if there are spots out there but inside is really nice also. The open face steak sandwich wasn't exactly what I thought but it was cooked perfectly and pretty good, the burgers are absolutely massive and the Carolina Stingers are a must try in my book.

Their Fish dinner is awesome comes w 2 sides, fish is huge. The coating is light n not greasy. We will return.

Waited for menus for almost 10 minutes. We ordered Mimosas, they took another 15 minutes. Getting a refill was challenging. The food was good, we had the shrimp and crab cakes, they were perfect. The salad came out without chicken on it, no biggie, then my burger was still pink in the middle and slimy. More waiting for drinks. Not trying to knock the place, but the weakest link is still a link. The server we had just kept dropping the ball and not picking it back up.

Club sandwich was very good. I would have given it five stars but I had to send a TNT back the tonic water was flat.

My friends and I go to syracuse a few times a year and stay in Liverpool. We always stop at the Retreat. It's usually great. This time the bartender could not have been ruder! I don't know if it was because we aren't regulars. Three rounds of beer and never said a word. My wife said she gave me a dirty look the last time as I left the bar. She is having fun yelling the word f$@k with some guys at the bar. Use to tell friends to stop, never again!

Wife and I took 3 special friends for lunch. 3 of us had the quiche special. All our meals were fabulous! and service was excellent.

I love the place but honestly I had to change my rating from a 5 start downtown a 3 star. Something is going on with their food. I've been there three times since it reopened due to Covid-19, each time I've went with my friends who all ordered different food items and it's the same story from all of us. Within 4-6 hours we all start feeling sick. Whatever is going on needs to be fixed ASAP.

So great to be able to have the option to eat outdoors. The Retreat is offering top notch service and food as always, despite the current situation and requirements. It almost felt normal. Always a good meal and so many things on the menu to try!

I've never had a bad meal. Today I had the quiche and salad special. The quiche had asparagus, mushrooms, bacon and cheese. It was delicious.

Great choice for a night out. Excellent service, great options, and superb meals. Look forward to visiting again soon. Highly recommended.

My waitress Taylor Choops was amazing and very attentive. She was super fun and perky and just made my day as she waited our table. The food was delicious and her service was great. I would go back to the retreat again.

Great place for the whole family! Superb staff! Great menu! Best Bloody Mary Ive found in Syracuse. Good size indoor and outdoor bars! 2 dining rooms and a beautiful outdoor dining patio. Live music in the summer! Several TVS with a variety of sporting events. Family owned and run makes the difference. Very impressed to see the owners overseeing operations quite often when we are there.

Post-Covid: Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Still a good time even with Cuomo sticking it to all the bars in New York!

The reasons for only 4 stars are directly for service. The food was absolutely amazing, but our waiter seemed like he had been burglarized and they stole his personality. I will definitely go back again because the food was that good, I just hope I don't get the same waiter again.

Great food and great service. The only thing I didn't like was not being addressed when we were waiting there and when hostess came she offered no apology or was friendly. When waiting would someone to acknowledge us. Like be right with you. Just watched bartender talk to a gentleman she didn't acknowledge us either. I know we are in a covid state but my mother is 85 and this was a treat for her. Thank you

Got a salad. Price on menu stated 7.95. I was charged $15.00. I did as chicken but there was very little chicken on it and I didn't think adding chicken would add another 5-6 dollars on it. Now I know why I don't go here.

This place has been a family favorite for many years. Service is fast and friendly. Food is always good and comes out fast. I can never stop here without a crock of French Onion soup! The Reuben and most of the other sandwiches are awesome!

Great bar restaurant with very good food. Multiple areas inside and out for seating. Outside deck bar with live music 6 days a week in summer weather.( not during pandemic) Pro servers that seldom fail to please.Eclectic decor that is very pleasant,different.Fun place you must visit.

Excellent food, for any palette. Courteous, knowledgeable staff; just the right amount of attentiveness, with good suggestions, and very pleasant. Comfortable atmosphere, with TVs at every angle so you can watch the games, but without the volume being cranked up so you can still enjoy conversation with your dinner party. If you haven't eaten here already, do yourself a favor and try it out.

The food is all really good. Depending on the night, it might be a good idea to make a reservation. The dinning room is cozy. They have music in the summer on the deck outside and a bar outside as well. The only issue is that a side is not included in the price for a sandwich. So, if you want fries with a sandwich you have to pay extra. Not a huge deal though.

Good food . Took about 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order and then food at same time. Never came back to see how food was. Had to ask hostess for another drink. Server was nice maybe she had too many tables.

Okay location and the food is good. My first visit was werid and I guess I stood out but the drinks were okay. I came back for my second visit and it was awkward but the drinks were all wrong and the food were made wrong. So I guess I need another visit make it official but its a good place if you're local and need some Friday drinks

The Retreat is a great casual local restaurant/bar. The service is fantastic - prompt, courteous, helpful and friendly. Just about anyone will find something to their liking on the diverse menu. Outdoor seating and an outdoor bar is wonderful during the summer months.

The French onion soup is one of the best I've ever had. And don't forget to order the flatiron steak, absolutely perfect. Thanx Kelly for the service👍😀

This is not your ordinary copycat menu. This place clearly has an expertly trained chef. The food was fantastic AND affordable. Our server, Taylor, seemed a little hurried at first, but quickly became one of the best we have ever had. She guided us into exquisite dishes. I had the crab coated grouper, better than most I've had in Florida, and my husband had the chicken francais with a side of the best French onion soup ever. Everything was great! Thanks Taylor and the chef and staff at Retreat for a marvelous experience. We own a restaurant, so we have high expectations.

A Liverpool staple and a great venue of lunch or dinner any time of the year. It is Always busy here but well managed. The outside deck is popular in the summer. The food is always good, the bar is well stocked, and the service is great. Great location and a 'hot spot' for sure.

I went with a group of 4 people total. We were told to find our own seats and table in the outdoor area, which we gladly did. We weren't briefed on the new instructions concerning covid so my friend went to the outdoor bar to order drinks and was very rudely addressed. We have no issue with complying with the new regulations, but the bartender was very rude about it. Then, as it turns out, we were not supposed to find our own seats. The area was supposedly reserved for others. No sign marked it. No other patrons were wearing their masks while walking around. My friend tried to chat with the manager but we were no allowed for whatever reason. We left and my friend called back to address the issue. To top it all off, we had additional charges on our ordered drinks. The poor service was one thing, but the additional charges were ludicrous. This isn't the first time we had poor service from this location. Very unfortunate.

Stopped in just looking to Eat real quick and loved every minute of this place. Inside outside sitting. Great service and nothing but smiles from all who worked there. Amazing food. I'll make sure I'll stop through again when I'm in the area.

Took a minute to get some service but Alyse was awesome. Everything we got was good but the burnt end bacon things were the best thing I have ever stuffed in my face hole. I wanna go back to Syracuse just to eat them again. The outdoor bar had a cool vibe to it. We really enjoyed this place.

Very friendly service and good food. I met a couple old friends for lunch and we hung out for a couple hours. It's a nice place for such a thing!

Great food, great service, and a great hometown atmosphere. Local restaurant that is most certainly better than comparably priced national chains.

We visited just before Christmas as noted the abundance of decorations, that give this restuarant it's ambiance. You know see a standard if excellence while being quickly escorted to your seating. I highly recommend reservations.The menu has a breadth of fine choices. Please do not overlook their soups. It's all good. The staff are meticulously helpful.This is a complete dining experience. I will come back.

Perfect weather for outdoor dining at the retreat today. Great food, friendly knowledgable wait staff. Quick service, food come out fast. Varied menu. Enjoy, see you there. Think there is great, live music about every night.

Excellent and fast service. Chicken soup was outstanding. Beef on a wick was huge and delicious.

Went for lunch today ordered onion soup and BLT. Soup came was good, BLT came took one bite and felt like I was chewing sand, open sandwich lettuce was black. Waitress came over showed her she apologized ask if I wanted something different No thanks finish soup waitress bring bill was not charged for sandwich but was curious why the manager never stopped by to apologize. asked to speak with manager which took about 10 minutes well waitress never informed manager of issue. Manager finally arrives says I'm sorry we clean all our food before we serve it, well apparently you did not not clean the lettuce used on my sandwich never offered to comp our other items and appeared to really not care.NEVER AGAIN RETREAT DISCUSSTED

Sat outside with my girlfriend. I had the rueben, without the bread. My friend had the salmon salad. Both delicious.

Food and atmosphere is great. Parking easy. Service is average to good depending on who you are/how often you go😉

Food and service were great! The only problem was one of the waitress’s had a mask on not covering her nose the whole time we sat outside and that is not the proper way to wear the mask to protect her customers!! I am not sure I will go back if the owners are not enforcing the Governors Mandates!! We all need to call these people out on not doing what they are suppose to be doing to save lives!!
